People will have the chance to sign a book of appreciation on Armed Forces Day on June 24. The day gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, including currently serving troops, service families, reservists, veterans and cadets.

Similar events will be taking place across the UK, enabling people to come out and show their support, and giving a much-valued morale boost for Armed Forces personnel and their families. This year’s national event takes place in Liverpool.

Graham Meredith, event organiser, said: “For this inaugural event in the town, the theme is really to engage with local people by providing a book of appreciation and gratitude and allowing public to say thank you in their own way.”

The celebration will take place in the Square and will be attended by Councillor Jane Mackenzie, mayor of Shrewsbury and veterans.
