Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin are inviting older people to attend the gathering, which will take place on July 10 from 9.30am – 12pm at the Orchard Cafe.

A free tea or coffee and a homemade scone will be on offer during the coffee morning. Anyone is welcome to come to the event which will be a good opportunity to socialise with friends and also meet new people.

Clive Szczepanek, manager of Orchard Café, said: "We are delighted to be working with local charity Age UK Shropshire Telford and Wrekin for our first open coffee morning. The Orchard Café is situated in a beautiful spot on Town Walls, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

"We have only been open two months and already getting regular customers coming in, so this is a great opportunity to have a look around the café and sample our homemade scones. The Orchard Café has a very welcoming atmosphere, we want people to come along to find out more about the regular lunch club we will be launching on July 24 and what the local Age UK charity can do to help you, a family member or friend."

Heather Osborne, chief executive of Age UK STW, said: “We are delighted to be working with Clive and his team at the Orchard Café. The coffee morning is an opportunity for people to get together and find out more about the support available through Age UK STW. We also hope to establish a monthly lunch club at the café to bring people together so they create new links and friendships."

People can drop in to the Orchard Café anytime from 9.30am-12pm on July 10, they can come on their own or with company. Parking is provided but spaces are limited. For more information about the event contact Susan Stefiuk at Age UK STW on 01743 233123 or Clive at the Orchard Café on 01743 242118.
