Presented by Squeezing Shropshire the workshop, called Session On!, is aimed at players of all instruments who can already play some folk tunes.

The workshop and evening session will be led by Ray Langton, from Squeezing Shropshire. Ray said: "This will give an opportunity for participants to expand their folk session repertoire, play tunes in ‘sets’ and hopefully give confidence to join in local music sessions – of which there are many in the area."

The workshop day will run on Sunday September17 at Hadnall Village Hall and will be followed by a traditional style music session in the New Inn, Hadnall. The cost for the event will be £25 which includes music, simple sandwich lunch plus tea/coffee.

The day provides the opportunity to learn new tunes and sets of tunes suitable for playing in sessions. Written notation will be provided in advance suitable for all instruments, from squeezeboxes to brass. These tunes will be fun to learn and fun to play with other people.

The workshop day will be followed by a relaxed evening session in The New Inn. All attendees are invited to join in from approximately 7.30pm when the tunes learnt during the day will form part of the repertoire, with perhaps some additional surprises. This session is open to all-comers even if they have not attended during the day, so dust off your instrument and come along and join in.

Pre- booking for the workshop day is essential and places are filling up. To book or find out further email ray.langton@talk21.com
