Family fun for all at Attingham Park
A 'jam-packed' programme of events is on offer at a National Trust property near Shrewsbury during the summer holidays.
With activities and events taking place right through the school summer holidays there is an almost endless range of possibilities at Attingham Park for getting outside, exploring nature and having some summer fun.
Rebekah Ingham, events officer at Attingham said, “We’ve jam-packed the summer holidays with fun family activities and lots of sporting opportunities. From Tales of Attingham Wood storytelling to canoeing on the River Tern, and from Deer Park Safari’s to a magical outdoor theatre performance of Peter Pan –there’s something for all the family this summer.”
Daily activities include a free summer ‘Inside and out’ spotting trail and a House Mouse Trail inside the mansion.

Young adventurers will leap at the chance to explore the estate on a River Safari along the River Tern or on a tractor and trailer ride for the Deer Park Safari. These sessions take place at timed intervals on the day, tickets for the River Safari are £10 per adult and £8 per child. Deer Park Safari tickets are £4 per adult and £3 per child. There will be more chances to explore nature and the outdoors at ‘Wild times: back to nature’ which will be running every Friday during the summer holidays, with the WildLife Survival School. Activities over the weeks will include shelter making, cooking in the wild, navigation and tracking, and making natural bows and arrows.
The most magical evening of the summer holidays will take place on August 4 with an open air theatre performance of ‘Peter Pan’. Chapterhouse Theatre Company will bring this tale to life in a brand new adaptation with beautifully
designed costumes, music and songs. Tickets cost £15 per adult, £10 per child and £44 per group, booking is essential. Tickets are available from visitor reception, via Attingham’s website, or the central booking line on 03442 491895.
Attingham’s resident storyteller will be telling tales of mystery, history and tails of the animals of Attingham Wood throughout August.
After the success of last year’s Attingham Family Camp it will be taking place again on August26 and visitors can explore Attingham at night, cosying up to a bonfire and sleeping under the stars. There will be a range of evening and after-dark family activities for all the family to enjoy, including stories and marshmallows around the camp fire, twilight bush craft and star watching with the Shropshire Astrological Society.
