Shrewsbury's Game shop to close this month
The Game store on Shrewsbury's Pride Hill will close its doors for the last time this month.
Game has hinted that it may look at moving to another location within the town but has advised customers to shop online or visit its Telford shop in the meantime.
Only last week the shop was arranging FIFA tournaments for local children in conjunction with Shrewsbury Town in the Community.
It has also held a number of successful events at The Alb pub in recent months, including Tekken and Wipeout tournaments and game quiz.
A spokesman for the company said: “Our Shrewsbury store will close at the end of August. While we consider alternative options within the community, customers can shop online at game.co.uk or visit their next nearest store in Telford Shopping Centre.”
No comment has been made on how many jobs are affected by the decision.
The closure of Game will make it the second national company to leave Pride Hill in recent months following the closure of McDonald’s in February.
The McDonald’s premises remains empty While the former Bank shop at the bottom of Pride Hill has been vacant since the company collapsed into administration in 2015.
Only this week Shrewsbury’s Business Improvement District unveiled a series of images connected to Darwin to occupy the windows of the former McDonald’s building.
