Shane Walsh: Inquest opens into Shrewsbury River Severn tragedy
The inquest was today opened on a Shrewsbury father of two who died in the River Severn.
The body of Shane Walsh, 29, was recovered on September 6 close to Frankwell Quay in Shrewsbury.
A statement from coroner's officer Paul Williams was read to the inquest opening at Shirehall, in Shrewsbury, this morning.
He said: "Shane Terence John Walsh was a construction worker and married to Kirsty Walsh.
"He had been reported missing on September 3 as a high risk missing person.
"A high risk missing person inquiry was begun by police specialists.
"At 2.40pm on September 6 the body of the deceased was found. The deceased was identified by his wife at 6.50pm at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
Heath Westerman, assistant coroner for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, adjourned the inquest until December 5 at Shirehall.
He said: "I offer my sincere condolences to the wife of Shane Terence John Walsh and his family."
