As soon as Stephen had finished the ride at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury with fellow PCSO Jon Staples, he was planning for his next fund-raiser.

Steve Sherratt, a PCSO with Staffordshire Police, left the beat behind to take to his bike and cycle 115 miles from his Stoke home to Dogs Trust Manchester and on to Dogs Trust Shrewsbury.

He raised £385, bringing the total amount he has raised for the charity to almost £6,000.

Steve, who has adopted two dogs from Dogs Trust Shrewsbury, crossbreed Bart, who was a stray, and Terrier cross Rex, said: “It was quite a tough ride but luckily the weather was kind to us and we got a great reception at the rehoming centres. We of course had the chance to meet lots of the gorgeous dogs too that will benefit from the money raised, which was wonderful.”

Steve is already planning further fundraisers for the charity, including a night of music with a mini-auction and an even longer bike ride next year.

Louise Campbell, manager at the Roden rehoming centre, said: “Steve is just incredible. He’d literally only just got off his bike at the front door and he was already talking about his future plans to raise more money. We rely on fund-raisers and donations so the fact that we know Steve is always planning another activity or event to raise more money is absolutely wonderful.”
