Cat rescued from Shrewsbury house fire
A cat was rescued from a house fire in Shrewsbury today and given oxygen therapy.
The fire, at a detached property in Shelton Fields, started just before 9am in a dishwasher on the ground floor and smoke spread to the rest of the building.
Two fire crews were called to the scene and used a covering jet, a hosereel jet, positive pressure ventilation, a thermal imaging camera and breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze.
Fire service personnel also isolated the electricity supply.
A spokeswoman from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was believed to have been started in a dishwasher on the ground floor."
The fire was under control by 9.45am.
