Driver taken to hospital after car overturns into field near Shrewsbury

A driver was taken to hospital today after his car overturned into a field near Shrewsbury.

The man, in his 20s, was initially unconscious after the crash on the B4393 near Alberbury and was suffering with back pain when he was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance.

A Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford, the police and two fire crews were also sent to the scene at about 7.45am.

The fire crews cut the man from his car using Holmatro cutting gear.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 7.45am between Alberbury and Ford.

"It was a single car road traffic collision, the car had overturned in a field.

"We sent one ambulance, a paramedic and a Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.

"We treated a man in his 20s who had back pain. He was initially unconscious following the collision.

"He was taken by land ambulance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
