Flood alerts were still in place, however, for the River Severn, Severn Vyrnwy Confluence and Tern and Perry Catchments.

The Environment Agency's Chris Bainger tweeted a video of EA workers preparing to remove the barriers at Frankwell this morning.

At 6:30 am today the Crew Green Gauge was 5.41 metres and falling slowly; the Montford Gauge was 4.84 metres and falling slowly; the Welsh Bridge Gauge was 2.5 metres and falling slowly and the Buildwas Gauge was 3.69 metres and steady.

The Met Office was forecasting a dry day, with sunny spells later.
