Shropshire council has received a planning application from Great Ness Poultry Farm Ltd for an extension of four extra poultry houses on the site and the erection of a agricultural worker's dwelling.

There are four other chicken farm sites close by.

A consultant's report into the need for the agricultural dwelling on the farm says that the company was established in 2011.

"It is a large poultry farm producing broiler chickens, meat birds as opposed to laying hens.

"Some 350,000 birds are now housed in seven poultry buildings located on site at any one time."

It says there is a total production of almost three million chickens a year.

The application will be debated by Shropshire Council at a later day.

The council has still to decide an application at nearby Felton Butler for a new chicken farm which has brought several objections by local residents and seen the launch of a petition.
