Traffic was backed up the A488 Hanwood Road both ways, between Caradoc View and A5, after the two-vehicle crash blocked the road at about 8.30am.

Two fire crews were sent from Shrewsbury to the scene near Lower Edgebold Cottages.

The road was cleared by about 10.40am.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said one of the drivers was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with a possible leg fracture.

She said: "One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended.

"There were two patients that were assessed. A 25-year-old man with a leg injury was given pain relief before being taken to the RSH. He was the driver of one of the cars and had a possible leg fracture.

"The second patient was a woman and she was discharged on the scene.

"An off-duty paramedic officer stopped to help too."
