Paul Morris’s family and friends said they would continue to raise funds in memory of the 36-year-old, who had also planned to attend the celebrity premiere of the new Avengers movie after being invited to the event in London later this week.

He had been aiming to run the marathon on April 22, along with his friends, to raise money for Severn Hospice and other charities.

Paul, from Shrewsbury, died early on Saturday morning. Laura, his wife, said: “He fought so hard right until the end.

Sudden

“People have supported him so much though all of this and it meant the world to him, me and all the family knowing he was loved by so many.

“It was all very sudden and we are all in a lot of shock. He was fine just 24 hours ago. But I want to say thank you to the ambulance crews and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital staff who helped him remain comfortable until the end.”

In a statement left on the TeamMoz Facebook page, where Paul had been sharing information on upcoming events, family and friends said they would continue raising funds.

They wrote: “Whilst we’re all reeling in shock, everyone is unanimous that Paul would have wanted to carry on raising as much money as possible for the great charities that meant so much to him. His goal was to leave a legacy which he has already done, but now our goal becomes to build this legacy as large and as proud as we can for him.”

Spilt

Paul had been aiming to run the London Marathon along with a group of his friends. He also had a bucket list and spoke of wanting to renew his wedding vows and take his children to Disneyland Paris

The money raised is to be spilt between a number of charities – Severn Hospice, Tenovus Cancer Care, YHA and Sense.

Nearly £1,500 was raised on Saturday at a charity quiz night in Paul’s honour. It took place at the Beaten Track Harvester in Old Potts Way, Shrewsbury. More than £6,100 has been raised so far through a Virgin Money Giving page.
