Stephen Griffiths, from Mold, was driving through Cressage with his wife on January 4 when they were hit by a Land Rover Discovery.
Mr Griffiths died at the scene from multiple injuries.
Senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, John Ellery, said the driver of the Land Rover swerved over the white line and crashed into Mr Griffiths' Audi.
Medical evidence showed the Land Rover driver suffered a medical episode at the wheel and had no recollection of the crash.
Mr Ellery accepted the cause of death and recorded a conclusion of road traffic collision.
