Youngsters on for fun this half term

Shropshire youngsters are being offered the chance to have fun and be active during next week’s school holidays - with an established coaching company running soccer schools, multi-sports courses, dance camps and holiday clubs.

Crossbar Coaching Education in Sport, celebrating their 10th anniversary year, have drawn up a busy itinerary of courses around the county during half term.

Open to boys and girls between the age of five and 13 - youngsters aged 12 and 13 are welcome to attend as young leaders - bookings are flooding in.

All proceeds from the courses will go to the Crossbar Foundation to support the quality and lives of young people in communities across Shropshire.

Jamie Haynes, the head of education for Crossbar, said: “We always love running the holiday clubs and children really look forward to coming along, having fun and making new friends. There’s lots going on and something for everyone to enjoy.”

Crossbar will be running World Cup Fever soccer schools at Shrewsbury’s London Road Sports Centre and Telford’s Lawley Primary School from Tuesday, May 29 to Thursday, May 31, with three World Cup football kits to be won at each venue.

Multi-sports sessions will take place from next Tuesday through to Friday, June 1 at London Road, which is also the venue for a dance camp from Tuesday to Friday.

Multi-sports will run at Lawley Primary School next Friday, with another dance course at Telford’s MD School of Performing Arts from Tuesday to Friday.

Crossbar’s holiday clubs, which combine multi-sports, movie club, arts and crafts, and other activities, this time have a Crossbar’s Got Talent theme, with children able to showcase their talents and win prizes.

They will be held at Shrewsbury’s Greenfields Primary School and St George’s Junior School - a new venue - plus Pontesbury Primary School, Broseley C of E Primary School, and Telford primary schools Old Park, Redhill, Captain Webb and Old Park.

Courses run from 9am-3pm each day, with early and late pick ups available for an hour either side for an additional £2.50 each.
