Body is found in search for student Jurij Kmito
A body has been found as part of a search for 21-year-old Jurij Kmito, who was reported missing from Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
Police said the body was discovered in the River Severn at Shrewsbury this afternoon.
Mr Kmito’s next of kin have been informed and have requested that their privacy be respected.
West Mercia Police spokeswoman Laura Maltby said in a statement that formal identification was yet to take place.
Mr Kmito’s death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
She added: “We would like to thank the public and the media for their help in sharing earlier appeals.”
Mr Kmito, who was a student at University Centre Shrewsbury, was last seen on Monday at his home in St Michael’s Street in the town.
Students, staff and friends had joined forces during the week to help search for the missing man.
