'Paul Hurst Way' still in Shrewsbury despite manager's east coast move
Paul Hurst may have swapped Shrewsbury for Ipswich but a small legacy remains - his makeshift road sign.
The "Paul Hurst Way" sign was placed in the middle of Meole Brace island, near Town's Montgomery Waters Meadow ground, in January.
And the sign was still on the island last night despite the news that Hurst has left Salop for the East Anglia club.
He left Shrews after the heartbreaking defeat at Wembley against Rotherham and was criticised by chief executive Brian Caldwell for the abrupt nature of his departure.
But fans will always remember his achievements.
Hurst took over at Town in October 2016 and narrowly saved the side from relegation that season before launching this year's unexpected promotion challenge.
His turnaround saw the Shrews spend much of the first half of this season top of the league - despite being tipped for the drop - before dropping to third and reaching Sunday's play-off final.
Given his success, Hurst's departure was expected by many but fans were still gutted when it was announced just three days after the Wembley loss.
Livingstone boss David Hopkins is leading the race to replace Hurst - find out more about who bookies are tipping as potential managers here.
