Entries invited for In Bloom competition
The Shrewsbury in Bloom Committee is inviting members of the public to nominate their green-fingered neighbours for this year’s Town of Flowers competition.
The Committee is looking for entries in the best residential front garden category.
The annual competition is open to residents’ front gardens only and must be located within Shrewsbury Town Council’s 17 wards.
For more details, including entry criteria and a nomination form, go to www.shrewsburytowncouncil.gov.uk/shrewsbury-bloom
Entries should be submitted to debbie.entwistle-stc@shropshire.gov.uk , or by post to: Shrewsbury in Bloom Town of Flowers Competition, Riggs Hall, The Library, Castle Gates, Shrewsbury, SY1 2AS, by midday on August 3.
Judging will then take place in August.
With the hot weather we are currently experiencing, the judges will be aware this will have an impact on people’s gardens, and will be taken into account when they are carrying out the judging.
Entries for this year’s business category will be nominated by members of the Bloom committee and Town Council officers.
Councillor Keith Roberts, chairman of the Shrewsbury in Bloom committee, said: “We had a record number of entries for last year’s competition and we are hoping to see even more entries for our residential front garden category this time around. It is always lovely to see people take time to look after their front gardens and we would like to acknowledge the effort that goes into producing such delightful displays, especially this summer with the heat we are experiencing at the moment. We would encourage everyone to get in touch and tell us if they know of anyone who loves their front garden to help us reward them for all their hard work.”
Shrewsbury in Bloom is the driving force behind Shrewsbury's entry into the Heart of England in Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions.
