New store opens in Shrewsbury
Local shoppers were out in force today when wilko opened the doors of its new store in Shrewsbury.
Queues started forming at 7.15am with more than 160 shoppers keen to get a first look at the new store in the Pride Hill Shopping Centre.
The first 100 customers received a £10 gift card and goody bags, whilst shoppers on the day also enjoyed free cupcakes.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting was led by wilko retail director Anthony Houghton and deputy mayor Phil Gillam, a representative from Alzheimer’s Society who attended on behalf of the Wilko Charity Partnership.
Wilko Shrewsbury branch manager, Mark DeMatteo, presented the charity partnership with a £600 cheque.
He said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local people, it’s a very positive start to our residence here at Pride Hill Shopping Centre and we can’t wait to welcome more customers to the new store.”
