Fault found on line leads to delays
Trains between Shrewsbury and Crewe were delayed after the line was closed following the discovery of a fault on the track.
Trains were diverted on to alternative lines and coaches laid on to take hot and flustered travellers to their final destinations.
The fault was discovered at around 3.30pm yesterday (MON) following a track inspection and the line was immediately closed.
Although no trains were cancelled, all trains were put on 'stop' and the closure led to severe delays across the region.
