Shrewsbury JLR showroom plans updated over concerns
A fresh drainage proposal has been prepared for plans for a new Jaguar Land Rover showroom and workshop in Shrewsbury, after concerns were raised.
Plans have been submitted for the multi-million pound development, which would bring a Jaguar Land Rover showroom, petrol station and drive-through coffee shop, to land near to Thieves Lane in Shrewsbury.
But worries concerns have been raised by ecologists and Highways England over previous months, and altered schemes and more information have been submitted in an attempt to quash the worries.
In a latest report, new drainage proposals have been submitted to Shropshire Council, following discussions developers have held with Highways England.
The report states: “The report demonstrates that the proposed development is not at significant risk of flooding from any known sources.
“In compliance with requirements, the development can proceed without increasing the risk of flooding either on site or off site.”
The development, which would also include a workshop and office park, would create dozens of jobs.
Two planning applications were submitted to Shropshire Council for the development next to Shrewsbury Business Park.
MDG Architects has submitted plans on behalf of Hatfields Jaguar Land Rover for the £9 million investment.
The JLR development would see 104 full-time employees on site, 74 of whom will be existing employees.
Meanwhile PWA Planning, on behalf of Monte Blackburn Ltd, has submitted a hybrid application seeking full planning permission for the petrol station, drive-through coffee shop, a new access, parking and landscaping, and outline permission for a new office park.
The development would create 15 full-time jobs and 30 part-time jobs.
The site is in the Emstrey area of Shrewsbury and lies between the A5 and the B4380 Thieves Lane.
It forms part of an area designated by Shropshire Council’s Site Allocations and Management of Development Plan (SAMDev) as Shrewsbury Business Park Phase 3, an extension to the existing business park.
Until recently, the site was farmland.
