Chimney fire closes main road in Shrewsbury
A busy road into Shrewsbury was closed as firefighters dealt with a chimney fire.
Rush hour traffic had to find alternative roads when emergency services shut the A495 Ellesmere Road just after 4.30pm last night.
Two fire crews went to the semi-detached house on the main road. Firefighters used specialist chimney equipment to bring the fire under control within half an hour.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service says householders should have their chimneys swept before lighting winter fires.
