The Patches, in Valeswood Lane, Valeswood, near Little Ness, has applied to Shropshire Council for the extension.

One of the lodges would be used as a reception and park warden's accommodation, and there would be 24 extra car parking spaces.

The park already has three holiday lodges which were granted planning permission in 2013, and became fully operational in 2017.

The existing access was enlarged at the time to provide a wider entrance.

The plans say: "The Patches holiday park has proved a successful enterprise.

"To expand, it is essential to provide a reception and on-site warden to cater for an increased number of visitors, who can arrive late in the day and often need assistance out of hours.

"An onsite warden is vital for site security and the proper functioning of a holiday park."

The application says it seeks the planning consent required for the business's growth over the next five years.

It adds: "Security is a key issue at many holiday sites and an on-site warden helps prevent any problems arising.

"Without a warden there is a higher risk or unwanted occupants, for example, travellers setting up camp on site.

"As well as dealing with emergencies, an on-site warden can deal with other social issues. This may happen at night rather than during daytime opening hours.

"The site is known as being a quiet and peaceful site in a beautiful location."

The plans will be considered by Shropshire Council in the coming months.
