Four injured as serious crash closes A49 at Shrewsbury
Four people were injured when a serious crash closed the A49 at Shrewsbury today, causing big rush hour delays.
The crash happened on the A49 near the Shrewsbury Golf Club at Condover at around 2.30am.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “One man and one woman suffered potentially serious injuries. They were assessed and treated at the scene before both being taken to the major trauma centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
“Two other women were treated at the scene for their injuries before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment.”
Four ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.
The road was closed in both directions between the A5 and the A5112. A diversion was in place between the A5 at the Dobbies Island and the B4370 at Marshbrook.
The road was reopened by 11am.
