Man threatens to jump in River Severn in Shrewsbury

A man threatening to jump into the River Severn in Shrewsbury has been taken into care.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue sent crews from Shrewsbury to the incident at Victoria Quay in the early hours of this morning.

At about 2.30am the man was taken into the care of the police and life saving charities including Shrewsbury Samaritans and the Shropshire branch of the Royal Life Saving Charity.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue tweeted the incident, writing: "At 02.33hrs 07.11.18 Shrewsbury crews were called to Victoria Quay Shrewsbury male threatening to jump in the River.

"In care of @ShrewsburyCops @SamaritansShrew @teamshrews @InspShrewsbury @RlssShropshire."
