Flood alert as rivers rise
Flood alerts have been issued from Shropshire and the Powys border as the River Severn levels rise.
Rain overnight was expected to add to the already swollen river and the environment agency and Natural Resources Wales issued the alerts for both the Severn and the River Vyrnwy.
Levels are forecast to rise at the Crew Green river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall, a spokesman said.
Consequently, flooding of minor roads and farmland is expected on Friday night and Saturday.
Flooding was already affecting low lying land and roads next to the river from Shrewsbury to Upper Arley with other locations that could be affected including Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth.
More heavy rain is forecast on Sunday.
