Shropshire bus users face rise in fares
Bus users in Shropshire face an increase in fares starting on Monday.
Arriva has announced a small increase to day ticket and single fares but said the price of annual tickets will remain the same.
The Shrewsbury adult day ticket will increase from £4.20 to £4.40 and the West Midlands adult day ticket goes from £6.20 to £6.30.
Adult single fares are going up by 10p across Shropshire.
In Shrewsbury singles will cost £2.20 and £2.70, in Oswestry they will cost £2.20 and in Telford they will rise to £1.70 and £2.80
Spokeswoman Cora Woodhouse said: “From Monday, Arriva will be increasing fares across its local bus network.
"With a continual growth in business and operational costs it is unfortunate that some of our fares have had to be increased, but wherever possible, we have aimed to ensure that our frequent travellers are still able to benefit from affordable transportation.
"We recognise the importance of keeping fares low for our regular customers, and as such we have endeavoured to keep all changes to a minimum, so that we are able to continue providing the quality, value for money services that people expect of us.”
