The new branch in the Darwin Shopping Centre is the life-saving trust’s fifth retail outlet and is aimed to boost income for the helicopter service.

Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Phil Gillam, performed the official opening by cutting a red ribbon alongside paramedics Fay Pollock and Rob Davies.

Residents are being encouraged to visit the store and take a look around.

There are Covid-19 measures in place for staff, volunteers and customers.

The trust is also recruiting a team of volunteers to help out. The charity’s Head of retail Anil Gupta said: “We’d love to see people pop in to explore the latest of our shops to open.

“There will be a chance to meet members of the air crew and find out about the work undertaken during each of the charity’s lifesaving missions.”

Residents are also being invited to donate good quality unwanted items.
