Action group praised for support during pandemic by Lord Lieutenant
A community action group has been praised for its innovation and selflessness by the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire.
Belle Vue and Coleham Community Action Group received plaudits from Anna Turner, the Queen's representative in the county, who said: "I would like to thank you for the contribution you have made to the county during these extraordinary and difficult times.
"The innovation, collaboration, courage and selflessness shown by so many during the Covid-19 pandemic has been inspiring."
A spokesman for the group said: "In the unprecedented times that we find ourselves, it really is a joy to hear of such great news to share far and wide.
"We as a committee are very grateful for this recognition.
"This would not have been possible without the dedication of our committee. It was formed over a year ago to make what was already a strong community even stronger.
"The Covid Support Group provides a range of services to our community from shopping, walking man's best friend, support to our friends in isolation and much more.
"This of course would have not been possible without the dedicated work of Councillor Kate Halliday, Nigel Fielden, Deborah Fielden and Diane Peacock who formed the Sub-Covid Group; together with all the wonderful volunteers who support them and the community as a whole.
"We assure our community that the service will remain in place for the foreseeable future for the residents of Belle Vue and Coleham."
