High river levels causing closure of car parks in Shrewsbury
High river levels have caused Shropshire Council to take action to close some car parks in Shrewsbury.
Shropshire Council says Frankwell Main Car Park will be closed by 11am tomorrow and the situation at St Julian’s Friar’s Car Park will be kept under review.
Frankwell Riverside Car Park is also closed due to occupation by the Environment Agency.
Frankwell resident and season ticket holders are being asked to move their vehicles to Raven Meadows Car Park by 11am tomorrow as the gates will be locked.
Those needing to park in the town centre have been advised to use Abbey Foregate Car Park.
St Julian’s Friar’s resident permit holders have been asked to be prepared to move vehicles to Abbey Foregate Car Park on the top tier.
A Tweet from Shropshire Council said: "Due to high river levels some car parks are now being closed or will be closed tomorrow (19 Jan).
"This affects Frankwell, Abbey Foregate & St. Julian's Friars car parks. Please be prepared to move your vehicles."
