Three of the group were not from the county and all were spoken to by Shrewsbury Police.

The licensee may also face action from Shropshire Council as a result of the incident.

A Twitter post stated: "@ShrewsburyCops COVID patrol 12/2/21 call to a license premise within #Shropshire.

"Four persons located within drinking beer. Three had travelled from out of county.

"Four fines issued and will discuss with council over possible action on the premise licence."

The incident is the latest involving members of the public visiting the region despite the government guidance advice to stay at home.

A driver from Walsall was spoken to by officers at Holmer Lake, in Telford, after they went to feed the ducks.

While an off-road motorist, also from outside the area, was fined after being pulled over near Bridgnorth on January 31.
