Six people taken to hospital after carbon monoxide leak in Shrewsbury

Six people were taken to hospital with potential carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty log burner in Shrewsbury.

The incident happened at Reabrook Place in Coleham Head at about 11.20pm on Friday.

An automatic fire alarm alerted the emergency services and Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service sent one fire appliance from Shrewsbury.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was also called and six casualties were taken to hospital.

The fire service reported: "Reports of carbon monoxide activation. Carbon monoxide leak caused by faulty flue on log burner. Six casualties taken to hospital for further checks."

Emergency services were on scene until about 12.15am.

The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
