Police tape was in place around Goldsmiths of Shrewsbury

Goldsmiths of Shrewsbury in the Square was vandalised over the weekend.

It appears that a watch display in the window was the target.

Higher end watches and jewellery at the store retail for upwards of £5,000.

Police taped off a large area outside the shop to try and preserve the crime scene and gather evidence.

It is not known what was taken.

This is just the latest incident in a spate of anti-social behaviour in Shrewsbury.

Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, Strands hairdressers in Grope Lane had a window smashed, with expensive hair straighteners and hair dryers stolen.

There were also a number of violent incidents in Shoplatch, illegal gatherings in the Quarry and a case of staff being abused by youths at a convenience store in Sundorne.

Calls were made for yobs to stop the behaviour and support Shrewsbury this week as non-essential shops, hairdressers and pub beer gardens reopen.

Police have said there will be a strong presence in the town this week.
