Shrewsbury Rotary club gets top tips on presentations
Rotarians have been given some expert advice on how to present themselves – particularly in the need to fundraise.
Sam Warner, a professional speaker and autistic interpreter, gave a Zoom meeting talk to Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club on the content for presentations, including framework and structure.
In how to nail the three p’s, preparation, practice and performance, she also advised Rotarians on how to introduce a ‘fun part’ to a Zoom meeting to connect more engagingly with one another.
“A Zoom attention span is really short, shorter than you’d think or like,” she said.
“Deliver things in 10 minute chunks to keep people engaged.”
She covered a wide range of topics from 60 second pitches to using no more than five words on a slide together with images to back up what is being said.
Sam, who concluded her talk by taking a string of questions from Rotarians, came to the club to present as part of a global collaboration with Toastmasters International.
She comes from Shropshire Speakers Club in Telford.
