The collision happened on the A458 at about midday on Friday. Air ambulance medics flew to the scene of the tragedy but emergency services were unable to save the woman. Two other people were injured.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the A458 in Bicton, Shropshire at 11.50am and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to the scene. The Welsh Air Ambulance was also in attendance.

A spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered three patients, one of whom, a woman, had suffered serious injuries in the incident.

“Ambulance staff administered advanced life support at the scene but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“Two further patients, a man and a woman, were both assessed and discharged at the scene.”
