Three men arrested after spate of Shrewsbury break-ins

Three men have been arrested and charged in relation to a spate of break-ins across Shrewsbury.

Sam Clubb, 33, of no fixed address, was arrested on Thursday and charged the following day with three offences of burglary in the town centre, which took place on March 25, April 14 and the day of the arrest.

Robert Ligus, 41, of Dutton Green in Shrewsbury, has also been charged with burglary following an incident in the town centre on May 11.

Ian Bevan, 36, of no fixed address, has been charged with a burglary which occurred on March 29, as well as five other offences of theft in March and one assault.

All three men remain in custody.

Detective Inspector John Weaver, of West Mercia Police, said: “We take burglary and theft offences extremely seriously and understand the impact this can have on the community and the local businesses.”

It comes after repeated incidents in the town in recent months, with thefts and vandalism causing frustration and concern for businesses and residents.
