Firefighters dash to automatic alarm at Shrewsbury's Old Market Hall

Firefighters dashed to the centre of Shrewsbury on Friday afternoon only to find that an unknown person had set off an alarm in a stairwell.

Reports of an automatic fire alarm going off at the Old Market Hall, in The Square, were received by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at 5.03pm.

One fire engine from the town's station was scrambled to the scene to find that the incident was a "false alarm caused by an unknown person activating an alarm in a stairwell."

The service stop message was sent 16 minutes later at 5.19pm.
