The restaurant at Arlington Way, Battlefield Road was closed when a crew from Shrewsbury fire station was called, at around 11.15pm.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said the fire had already been contained when the crews arrived. Although smoke needed to be cleared, no damage to the restaurant was caused.

The service's fire log said firefighters used positive pressure ventilation to clear smoke from the restaurant, and they were stood down a few minutes after arrival.
