Man taken to hospital after car leaves road in Shrewsbury and hits hedge

A man has been taken to hospital after the car he was driving left the road and collided with a hedge.

Emergency services went to the accident at the junction of the A458 and Shelton Road in Shrewsbury just after 1.15pm on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man was assessed at the scene before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for treatment.

Two fire crews from Shrewsbury also went to the scene, along with the police.

A spokesman for the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said no one was trapped and firefighters make the vehicle safe.
