Emergency services sent to early morning river rescue in Shrewsbury

Emergency services were called to a river rescue early this morning.

Crews were called to the English Bridge in Shrewsbury.

Police, the ambulance service and Shropshire Fire and Rescue sent crews to the incident, in the River Severn at the English Bridge in Shrewsbury.

The fire service said they had been called to a report of a 'water rescue' at around 3.53am.

An update from the service said that when the crew arrived two men were found to have exited the water and were left in the care of the ambulance service.
