Two fire crews from the county town's fire station were scrambled to reports of a house fire in Sambrook Close, at 9.29pm on Thursday.

But when they arrived on the scene they found it was a false alarm.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue said: "This incident was a false alarm involving an unattended candle setting of the smoke alarms within the property. Advice given."

The crews' stop message was sent just over a quarter of an hour later at 9.45pm.
