The front door of Bomere Heath's Co-op store was damaged on Saturday. Posting on their Facebook page earlier on Saturday morning the store team said: "Unfortunately we will not be open until further notice."

Responding to customers they confirmed the reason for the closure, saying: "Not a power failure, we've been broken into."

A chipboard barrier had been placed in the vacant doorway and plastic barricades were set up in front of it, with customers being turned away.

The team said in a social media message that they hoped to be open again by 2pm.

The store sits in the heart of Bomere Heath on Shrewsbury Road.

In 2019 the shop suffered major damage and disruption when raiders unsuccessfully tried to steal a cash machine in the early hours of the morning.
