"Malicious activation" of fire alarm in Shrewsbury prompts rescue crew response

Fire fighters have confirmed that an incident at a property near to Shrewsbury fire station was caused maliciously.

A crew was scrambled from the fire station up the road to one of the terraced homes nearby at St Michael's Street at 3.47pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said they were responding to an automatic fire alarm.

And they added that it was a "false alarm due to malicious activation of alarm point."

The incident was declared stopped at 3.57pm.
