The first stage of the Shrewsbury Riverside demolition was approved last week

Shropshire Council's planning committee granted approval for the authority's own partial demolition application on Friday.

The work will be paid for with a multi-million 'levelling up' grant from the government awarded earlier this year.

The demolition will see units 2 and units 44-48 in the Riverside knocked down, along with the former police station and the pedestrian walkway canopy.

The council says the work is needed to carry out ground investigations as it plans for the complete redevelopment of the Smithfield and Riverside area.
