An 18-year-old from Shrewsbury has been spared jail after being found trying to dispose of a machete and a samurai sword by police.
Scott Hughes, of Abbots Road, had previously denied two charges of being in possession of a bladed instrument but was found guilty of the charges in a trial in June.
Lisa Morris-Jones for the Crown Proscution Service, told Telford magistrates at the teenager's sentencing hearing on Wednesday that the offences took place on October 27 last year.
She told the court a PCSO has spotted a group of youths in Vanguard Way at around 3.15pm.
