Woman taken to hospital after being cut free following Shrewsbury crash
A woman was taken to hospital after being rescued from a car by fire crews using cutting equipment, it has been confirmed.
Police, ambulance and two fire engines were scrambled to Gains Park Way, in Shrewsbury to reports of a collision with a person trapped at 1.29pm on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said an operations officer was also in attendance at a road traffic collision "involving one car and one van".
"Crews used Holmatro cutting equipment to release person who was trapped in the car," they added.
The fire service stop message was received at 2.05pm.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Gains Avenue and Gains Park Way in Bicton Heath near Shrewsbury at around 1.20pm.
"An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a car and a van had been involved in a collision.
"A woman from the car was treated by ambulance staff for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment."
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 1.30pm yesterday afternoon with a report of a collision on the junction of Gains Avenue and Gains Park Way in Shrewsbury.
"Officers attended the incident to find two vehicles involved and one person trapped in their car.
"She was removed from her vehicle and taken to hospital for precautionary checks."
