Thomas Phipps had been chosen to be Liverpool's mascot for the day when they took on Bournemouth in 2020 - the last league game the side played before sport was stopped for lockdown.

His mum said the Belvidere Primary School pupil was left "heartbroken" when Covid rules prevented him for meeting the team and leading them out onto the pitch.

However, three years on and Thomas finally fulfilled his dream when Liverpool FC invited him back on Sunday to lead Alisson Becker and the rest of the team onto the pitch against Nottingham Forest.

Mum Lisa said the 10-year-old, who visited Anfield along with dad Richard and younger brother Ted, had described it as a "day to remember".
