Severn Trent Water finally restored water supplies to properties and completed repairs to a burst pipe at 8.56pm last night - nearly 12 hours after the issue was first reported.

The water company received reports from residents in SY5 and SY6 postcode areas at around 9.42am and set out investigating the issue.

More than three hours later at 1.10pm, Seven Trent updated customers stating that they had identified a burst pipe.

The update said: "Following on from our previous update, we’re really sorry if you’re still experiencing supply interruptions due to a burst water pipe.

"Our teams are on site working to repair this and restore your water supply as soon as possible. We are confident the repair will be completed by 2pm."

Later at 5.34pm, Severn Trent apologised to customers who were still experiencing supply interruptions due to the burst pipe after they found difficulties with the incident.

The update said: "Our teams are working hard to get your water flowing again but have found the repair to be a lot more complex than first anticipated."

A similar update was then issued at 7.46pm before the incident, finally, concluded at 8.56pm.

A post said: "We’re pleased to inform you that the repair for the burst water main is now completed.

"The water supply has been returned to normal. For those that were impacted by this we’d like to thank you for your continued patience whilst this was being carried out."
