National Grid said a power cut that affected Raven Meadows was caused by a fault in the underground supply network and it affected other businesses in the area.
Shropshire Council said Raven Meadows was closed for entry but there was no need to move vehicles if they were already in there. But it appealed for people to take care when returning.
A council spokesperson said: “Raven Meadows multi-storey car park in Shrewsbury is closed for entry due to a power cut that has also affected other properties in the area.
”There is no need to move vehicles currently in the car park, but please take care when you return to your vehicle. If you need any help or assistance please ask at the office by the entrance.
“If you are visiting Shrewsbury town centre please use park and ride or other local bus services if possible. Frankwell and St Julian's car parks remain closed until further notice.”
National Grid estimates that power could be back on at 6pm this evening.
A National Grid Electricity Distribution spokesperson said: “A low voltage fault on our underground network is causing power supply issues for six properties near Smithfield Road in Shrewsbury.
"Our engineers are on the case, and we’d like to thank customers for their patience as we work to reconnect them.”
