A49 roadworks cause long delays for drivers near Shrewsbury
Residents were faced with rush hour traffic delays as Severn Trent Water carried out work on the A49 near Shrewsbury.
Drivers took to social media to vent their frustration this morning, with reports of delays of about an hour.
Some residents said temporary traffic lights were not working and others said they had to leave home an hour earlier than normal.
Ria Gaffney, spokeswoman for Severn Trent, said: “We’ve been working to connect one of our customers to our water pipe following a private leak they had at their property.
"We’re sorry for any inconvenience this work has caused, but the connection is now complete, and we’ll now be working to get everything back to normal and safe again as quickly as possible, which we hope to be by the end of the day.”
